Windows 64 bit vs 32 bit, which one should you buy?

Windows 10

64 bit Windows 10

This is one of the most common questions that I get from people who are looking to buy a new computer, should they get the 64 bit version of Windows or the 32 bit. To make this long story short, if you are looking to run over 4GB of RAM in your computer then you will need the 64 bit version, if you do not care about the amount of memory then I would stick with the 32 bit version.

Note that for most people 4GB of RAM will be more than enough to run all of their applications, also remember that having more memory does not mean that your computer will run faster, all it means is that your computer will be able to run more applications at the same time. If you are looking for more speed you can still benefit from running a 64 bit OS and hardware however I would look for a faster processor, for example anything with at least two cores running at 3.0 Gigahertz will give you excellent speed.

If you ask me (IT Professional)I would get me a computer with the 32 bit version of Windows (less compatibility issues), 4GB of RAM and a processor that runs at least at 3.0GHZ. This should be more than enough to play games, browse the Internet and do office work.

However we know that technology changes fast and even though these specs worked great a few years ago, now I would highly recommend that you get Windows 10 Home or Pro with 64 bit, also 8 GB of RAM and an SSD hard drive are a must! These specs will allow you to have a great Windows 10 experience at an affordable price.

Stuck on “Getting Windows Ready” – Here is how to fix it

How many times have you run Windows Updates on your Windows 10 desktop or laptop, you have an important project to finish and you need your computer as soon as possible to find out that Windows is stuck on that screen “Getting Windows Ready”, it can be one of the most frustrating errors to encounter, below is a video that explains how to fix it.

Windows Updates

Don’t Turn Off Your Computer

Protect your laptop or desktop against startup Windows errors

Now, as soon as you are able to login to Windows I highly recommend that you download yourself a copy of Malwarebytes, for your computer to be acting up this way there is a high possibility that your Windows laptop or desktop is infected with Malware and your system has been compromised, installing this software will prevent future crashes. I also recommend that you get the paid version instead of the free version because it will well worth it, you do not want to risk losing your files or important documents to save a few dollars, the paid version will allow you to maintain your computer clean from viruses and free of spyware and Malware, here is a discount link so you can save on the license.

Download Malwarebytes Premium and protect your devices

As you can see it is pretty easy to fix, the Windows lock screen can get stuck as well and this video shows how to resolve that issue as well.

Fixing the Windows Loading Boot Issue (Windows 7 and Windows 10)

Now, onto the fix, let’s show you how to fix Windows Getting Ready annoying error! Many Windows users will experience a ton of startup errors like this one, even though this is one of the most common Windows errors, it can be very difficult to troubleshoot, this is because there are so many parts involved with the Win file system which is why it is hard to resolve.

Another reason why this boot up error affects so many people is because when they get stuck in the Windows startup logo people tend to restart their computer, this is a big mistake because sometimes a background process will attempt to recover and the boot up process may finish however by forcing a shut down on your computer you could corrupt the Win file system and damage your hard drive permanently.

A few tools and settings that you will need to resolve this issue:

  • Admin access to your Windows 10 computer
  • A Windows 10 or Windows 7 boot disk
  • A working keyboard so you can login to Safe Mode
  • Basic knowledge about the command prompt
  • A current backup of your important documents, photos and videos

Once your computer restarts and before you see the Windows logo you are going to hit the F8 key multiple times until you see the Windows boot menu, this will give you access to the tools that you will need to fix your startup errors, you either want to start your computer in Safe Mode so you can do a System Restore or you can also attempt a last good know configuration. Other options can be seen in the video as well.

Preventing the Getting Windows Ready Windows error

As I mentioned before, once you are able to fix the Getting Windows Error you are going to want to prevent this from happening in the future, the reason for this is because you could easily end up spending hundreds of dollars on a new computer if your hard drive gets corrupt, not only could you lose your expensive computer but you could also lose your important documents and pictures, in most cases the reason for this error is due to a Malware infection, getting a cheap license of Malwarebytes here will save you hundreds of dollars and time spent trying to recover your data.

Also, I highly recommend that you backup your important documents, music and photos, I usually backup my files every 3 months but you can do so as many times as you want, there are many ways that you can achieve this however the easiest one is to simply copy them to a flash drive, you can grab one with plenty of space at Tiger Direct, I recommend buying one that is at least 64 GB.
